Concha Jareño is teaching as part of our Vida Flamenca’s Cultural Arts Exchange Programming.

Madrid-born, Concha Jareño is one of the most outstanding Flamenco dancers in the world today. Certified in Spanish Dance, she gained the National Awards Matilde Coral and Mario Maya in Flamenco Art in Cordoba 2007. She has worked with artists such as Rafael de Córdoba, Yolanda Heredia, Belén Maya, Rafaela Carrasco and Isabel Bayón.

Concha Jareño began her studies in dance with the Elena Fernández School, and finished with qualifications in Spanish Dance from the “Conservatory of Spanish Dance of Madrid”. She then continued her studies with Alejandro Granados, Cristóbal Reyes, Rafael de Córdova, and Antonio Canales.

Concha choreographed the famous jazz-flamenco work “Herencia” with Gemma Morado. In March 2008 she created “Algo” her own production in the Flamenco Festival “Flamingo”, Helsinki, Finlandia. She has participated in “Bienal de Malaga”, “Flamenco viene del Sur” and “Festival de Jerez” as a guest artist for the “Flamenco XXI: Café, Copa y Puro” in the Compañía Dospormedio. She has presented her personal shows at the  Sala Triángulo in Madrid, “Algo” and “Simplemente Flamenco” which highlight the artist’s Flamenco skills from traditional to contemporary.

Concha Jareño won the Flamenco Choreography Prize “Certamen de Coreografía de Danza Española y Flamenco de Madrid”, and second prize in the “Cante Flamenco de las Minas” in 2008. In 2009 has presented “Algo” in one of the most prestigious Flamenco Festivals in Spain “Festival de Jerez” and was awarded with the “Premio revelación” at the Festival in 2009.

Since 2004, she has been one of the resident teachers at the Amor de Dios dance academy in Madrid, training many professional and non-professional dancers from all over the world. She also travels to present her invaluable style of teaching around the world.

Vida Flamenca welcomes Concha to Southern California and is thrilled to present her for workshops and shows.

A native of Seville, Ismael de la Rosa is part of a long lineage of famous flamenco gypsies known as the “Familia Fernández.” Ismael began his professional career at only 7 years old, debuting with his family at the Festival de Biarritz. He then performed at the acclaimed “Homenaje de Bernarda de Utrera,” at the Teatro Maestranza in Seville, Spain. He continued his career touring Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokio, Japan, with his father, and at 8 years old, Ismael performed as part of the prestigious Bienal de Sevilla, at the teatro Maestranza. Soon thereafter, Ismael sang for world-famous flamenco dancer, Maria Pages, in her production “Canciones antes de una Guerra,” at the Teatro Villa Marta in Jerez.

Ismael has shared the stage with many different flamenco artists, such as Capullo de Jerez, José Valencia, and Juana Amaya, El Güito, Esperanza Fernández, David Dorantes, Miguel Angel Cortes, Pastora Galvan, Bernardo Parrilla, Paco Iglesias, Paco Fernández, Jose Anillo, Juan José Amador (Senior), Manuela Ríos, José Galván, Pedro Cordoba, Jesus Carmona, Nino de los Reyes, Ramón Porrina, El Farru, El Carpeta La Farruca, Alfonso Losa, and many more. He has been featured in productions of Marco Flores and Olga Pericet, Guadalupe Torres and Sonia Olla and Ismael Fernández.

In addition to accompanying dance, Ismael composes his own works and continues to develop his talent at various flamenco “Tablaos,” such as El Villa Rosa, Las Carboneras, Corral de la Morería and Casa Patas of Madrid, and Los Gallos, El Arenal, Museo del Flamenco and Peña Torres Macarena of Seville.
