Rocío Molina

Born in Málaga, Spain in 1984, Rocío Molina began her dance training at age three. Lauded as a flamenco prodigy, Molina received national attention for her technique and artistry by age 11 and graduated with honors from the Real Conservatorio de Danza de Madrid at 18. In 2001, she joined the Compañía María Pagés as a dancer and choreographer, touring internationally. In 2008, she was a soloist in Mujeres with Merche Esmeralda and Belén Maya. Molina has shared billing with flamenco sensations Carmen Linares, Miguel Poveda, and Israel Galván, among others,

She has earned critical acclaim for her performances with her own company, achieving “an evolved form of flamenco, completely true to its origins” (Ballet Magazine). Her recent works including Cuando las piedras vuelen (2009) and Oro Viejo (2010) led to receipt of her nation’s most coveted award in the arts, the National Prize for Dance in 2010. Her latest work, Afectos, premiered in October 2012 at Barcelona Mercat de les Flors.
