El Aire Mueve | Rocío Molina door Flamenco Biënnale Nederland
RAZOR-SHARP AND RADICAL FLAMENCO BY THE ‘MADONNA OF CONTEMPORARY FLAMENCO’
On February 6th we will be bringing you Rocío Molina live exclusively from her home to yours. The Dutch Flamenco Biënnale will be streaming an exclusive performance from her beautiful Cortijo Annex studio ‘La Aceitera’ just outside Seville. Expect a high-quality stream, made to maximize your online experience.
Rocío Molina (1984) has been dancing since she could walk. Following in the footsteps of flamenco innovator Israel Galván, she finds her way – headstrong and brazen – in flamenco. The idiosyncratic dancer from Málaga is used to offering risky and radical performances, in which she constantly challenges the traditional flamenco codes ánd herself. In her own defiant way, Rocío Molina modernizes flamenco tradition. Her new show Al Fondo Riela is no different, divesting flamenco of its routines and restraints.
Molina, who recently became a mother, reinvents herself in her special online performance El Aire Mueve, dancing “from scratch”, dancing “from scratch”, in her own words. She uses great expressive and physical power in extending the flamenco boundaries further. Razor-sharp and radical, in an intimate virtuoso dialogue with her three musicians Eduardo Trasierra, Rafael Rodríguez and Yerai Cortés, the “Madonna of contemporary flamenco” hovers between tradition and experiment.
