Long Beach Performing Arts Center,
Terrace Theater, 300 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90802
Get ready to whirl and twirl with this rhythmic program showcasing music with a Spanish flavor built around the dances, folk songs and traditions of the Iberian Peninsula.
Back by popular demand, internationally-acclaimed Classical guitarist, Pepe Romero will take center stage with new Music Director Eckart Preu for Celedonio Romero’s Concierto de Málaga. This will be followed by Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol, a five-movement orchestral suite celebrating Spanish folk melodies with flashy solos from different instruments in the orchestra. Maestro Preu will then lead the orchestra in two suites drawn from Georges Bizet’s 1875 opera Carmen, including the procession of the toreadors and the gypsy dance. Patrons will enjoy pre-concert lobby activities and performances, including a live flamenco dance.
