SIMOF 2024 – International Flamenco Fashion Week Kick Off!
JOSÉ JUAN HURTADO REVIDIEGO, WINNER OF THE SIMOF 2024 YOUNG DESIGNER CONTEST, WITH HIS ‘JURDELES’ COLLECTION!
The International Flamenco Fashion Week (SIMOF 2024) has begun its second day with the traditional Young Designers Contest, whose winner was José Juan Hurtado Revidiego from Paradas (Seville) and Lydia Jurado as revelation award. A total of seven promising young people have had the opportunity to present their creative proposals for the 2024 season to the public. The winner, José Juan Hurtado Revidiego, 24 years old and from Paradas (Seville), surprised with his Jurdeles collection. Hurtado studies Fashion Design and Industrial Pattern Design at the Fashion Image Center in Seville. He has been a finalist in other competitions for new designers. His dream is “to be able to dedicate himself professionally to what he is passionate about: flamenco fashion.”
The recognition includes the opportunity to be included in the next edition of SIMOF 2025 and participate for free on the EGO 2024 platform; in addition to a cash prize of 1,000 euros in fabrics from Flamentex, sponsor of the event.
In this award for the revelation collection, the jury valued the originality, creativity, innovation and quality of the collection. The winner will have a presence in the EGO-SIMOF 2024 space.
The SIMOF 2024 revelation award has gone to Lydia Jurado Ortiz from Mataró (Barcelona), a Catalan with Andalusian roots, with her collection Bastardas de ella. From the age of five, while her mother sewed flamenco dresses and her father created events with flamenco singers, she learned to dance flamenco. She studied a higher cycle of pattern making. Jurado Ortiz assures that her designs “bear the seal of an Andalusian Catalan, granddaughter of immigrants, a protester and activist.”
