40 Years of Excellence!

40 years ago, Eva Encinias founded the National Institute of Flamenco with the mission to preserve and promote flamenco’s artistry, history, and culture by presenting the finest flamenco in the world to our local and global communities. Our 40th “ruby” anniversary year has brought a series of full circle moments for our organization, beginning with three very special awards for Encinias. This year, she has been awarded the 2022 National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship, 2022 New Mexico Governor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts, and the City of Albuquerque Department of Arts & Culture Creative Bravo Legacy Award. These achievements are the icing on the cake of a wonderful year of re-emergence for the Institute.
What Encinias began grew into an expansive array of flamenco programs, including the annual Festival Flamenco Alburquerque, the Conservatory of Flamenco Arts, diverse performance companies including Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company, and Tablao Flamenco Albuquerque. Please support the National Institute of Flamenco as we continue this important work. Donate here: https://bit.ly/3TvHMoZ
Happy 40th Eva from Vida Flamenca!
