SIMOF 30 Somos Todos; We are all SIMOF was the theme of the event. And the day’s events certainly proved this to be accurate. The large exposition center with countless design houses, fine textile houses, accessories, cities and regions promoting their creative artists and artistry, filled the architecturally beautiful exposition center. In attendance were women, men and children of all ages. Its popularity goes beyond Andalusia where flamenco fashion is a part of most all families, but also extends to other region of Spain. The celebration of flamenco fashion is interwoven as the fabrics of the dresses themselves into many aspects of Spanish culture. The celebrations of ferias and festivals in Andalusia and throughout the country make the appreciation of flamenco fashion a part of many family’s traditions.

Yet, it is the beauty of the designs themselves and their universal outreach that makes flamenco fashion an international sensation. And SIMOF 30 proved itself to be just that, an international fashion event. Local Sevillanos and people from Andalusia filled the exposition center and runway shows, but it was also noticeable that there were people in attendance from many regions of Spain, Europe, the Americas and Asia.

The veteran designers that burst onto the runway stages with gorgeous lighting and themes also expressed that immense inclusivity that art often extends through their works. From the traditional and uniquely creative works of dancer and designer Jose Galván to a veteran design house such as renowned designer Carmen Latorre, everything from tradition to innovation could be experienced in their intricate creations. Design house Sergy y Tapiju filled the runways and the entire room with brilliance, color, architecture and beauty that moved from Andalusia to India and back to Sevilla. The homage to the movie Grease by designer Leticia Lorenzo marvelously expressed her inspiration from the classic film and the1950s styles into gorgeous flamenco dresses! Designers Rosa Pedroche and Conso Delgado delighted the senses with the passion, colors and styles of Andalucia in powerful designs that both had traditional lines and new creative flair and passion!

The sounds of flamenco music and guitar as well as Mexican music, Caribbean music, music from Asia and even the twang of Elvis Presley contributed to the multiculturalism and universal reach of great art.
Besides the internationally renowned designers and their couture houses, SIMOF 30 awarded first place to the brilliant work of young designer Lucia Ruiz for an exceptionally beautiful collection of traditional works and unique artistic use of textiles.
To be sincere, I think the judges must of had a tremendously difficult time making a decision, the designers and their design houses were all uniquely moving.

Diseñador Fran Gámez.
Designer Franz Gámez and up and coming designer from Córdoba Lourdes Aguilar had beautiful pieces at the exposition center and for anyone that would like a beautiful Spanish dress for a party Sona at Sona official has some wonderful originals crafted from embroidered textiles that are beautiful and wearable for any event.
SIMOF 30 deifinetatley was what it said it was, somos todos, SIMOF 30, we are everyone. And without a doubt Sevilla is one of the fashion capitals of the world.
