Barcelona Flamenco Ballet’s ‘CARMEN’ Comes to The Alex Theatre, Glendale * March 1

SUNDAY, MARCH 1, 2026 at 6:00 pm
The Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale, CA 91203

Passion. Power. Pure flamenco.

Barcelona Flamenco Ballet re-imagines Carmen, blending flamenco with Bizet’s timeless music.

Bizet’s timeless music meets David Gutiérrez’s explosive choreography in a performance where dance becomes emotion, and Carmen becomes a symbol of strength and freedom. Feel the intensity of love, rebellion, and feminine fire — told through the most expressive language there is: flamenco.

Barcelona Flamenco Ballet (BFB) address the ever- present myth of Carmen in their new project. This new recreation of Bizet’s work brings new elements from flamenco that were previously unknown. It goes  beyond the traditional conception in which it has historically been categorized and adapts it to the reality of today’s contemporary society. The values for which Carmen is today a woman of our time and the adaptation of flamenco music and ballet with the distinctive stamp that characterizes David Gutierrez, places the work in a new paradigm of the universal myth and flamenco of the 21st century.

For fans of flamenco, opera, dance, theatre, and raw storytelling, this is the must-see event of the season.
