Es un artista a la vieja usanza, formado desde niño en la escuela de la vida y cantaor las veinticuatro horas del día. Un intérprete absolutamente personal, a quien se puede identificar, sin la más mínima duda, casi antes de que empiece a templarse. Posee el genuino soniquete de su tierra, pero aborda los cantes de una forma que le diferencia con claridad de todos sus paisanos. Como los grandes creadores, ha acuñado un sello propio. En el panorama flamenco de comienzos del siglo XXI, cada vez más monocorde, El Capullo resulta un personaje felizmente incatalogable.

Nació el 3 de abril de 1954, en la calle de Cantarería, en pleno corazón del barrio de Santiago, dentro de un patio de vecinos donde no pasaba una sola noche sin que se improvisara una fiesta colectiva. Allí se fraguaron sus primeros recuerdos musicales al lado de grandes como Terremoto, Tio Borrico o la Paquera. Asegura que sus letras y sus músicas salen de la vida.

He was born on April 3, 1954, on Cantarería Street, in the heart of the Santiago neighborhood, in a courtyard where not a single night passed without an impromptu party. There, his first musical memories were forged alongside greats like Terremoto, Tío Borrico, and La Paquera. He says that his lyrics and music come from life.
