Presentation: Paco de Lucía said that every two steps forward he took one step back so as not to lose his way. In that balanced dance this art is held, which from its own roots is projecting towards the horizon. The Seville Flamenco Biennial, in this sense, is not a showcase of what is happening, but rather an event in which times come together to last in memory. The expression of expressions, so to sum it up.

A whole festival that serves as a model for other events, in which singing, dancing and guitar in their different aesthetics are at the center of endless sensibilities. Its twenty-third edition, which coincides with the tenth anniversary of the death of the sonanta master, will be the celebration of this time in which we live. A Biennial of meetings. Those of the Andalusian capital with this cultural event that happens every two years. And those of the artists themselves, among them, brought together in the heat of a program that is committed to the singularity of spaces and moments. Unique encounters. Unexpectedly expected. With today’s greatest exponents, legendary teachers, new talents and a city that for several weeks will become a rhythmic stage. Seville sings with ribs and cobblestones. Through its corners, marrow and in the shadow of centuries that La Paquera clarified in a lyric by Manuel Alejandro. Flamenco is many things: discovery plus search, the synthesis of a scream, getting lost in a tremolo in which the fingers that make it sound suddenly go and disappear… They all have in common, however, that from their forge they make of Seville, a territory of deep creativity. This festival is a red drop falling on the surface of a map. Something pointed out. The center and the stone. The staging of a tradition in continuous movement that differentiates us from the rest of the globe.

A necessarily universal and Sevillian Biennial. Of flamenco. With the beat placed on the hip of the world.

Presentación: Decía Paco de Lucía que cada dos pasos hacia delante daba uno hacia atrás para no perder el camino. En esa danza equilibrada se sujeta este arte que desde su propia raíz anda proyectándose hacia el horizonte. La Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla, en este sentido, no es un escaparate de lo que se cuece, sino un acontecimiento en el que confluyen los tiempos para perdurar en la memoria. La expresión de las expresiones, por así resumirlo.

Todo un festival que sirve de modelo a otras citas, en el que el cante, el baile y la guitarra en sus diferentes estéticas quedan al centro de un sinfín de sensibilidades. Su veintitrés edición, que coincide con el décimo aniversario de la muerte del maestro de la sonanta, será la celebración de este tiempo que habitamos. Una Bienal de encuentros. Los de la capital andaluza con esta manifestación cultural que sucede cada dos años. Y los de los propios artistas, entre ellos, reunidos al calor de una programación que apuesta por la singularidad de los espacios y los momentos. Encuentros únicos. Inesperadamente esperados. Con los máximos exponentes de hoy, maestros de leyenda, nuevos talentos y una ciudad que durante varias semanas se convertirá en un escenario acompasado. Sevilla canta con costillas y adoquines. Por sus esquinas, tuétanos y en la sombra de siglos que aclaró La Paquera en una letra de Manuel Alejandro. El flamenco es muchas cosas: hallazgo más búsqueda, la síntesis de un grito, perderse por un trémolo en el que de pronto van y desaparecen los dedos que lo hacen sonar… Todas tienen en común, sin embargo, que desde su forja hacen de Sevilla un territorio de creatividad honda. Este festival es una gota roja caída en la superficie de un mapa. Algo señalado. El centro y la piedra. La puesta en escena de una tradición en continuo movimiento que nos diferencia en el resto del globo.

Una Bienal necesariamente universal y sevillana. De flamenco. Con el latido puesto en la cadera del mundo.
