“Contrapunto,” with Karime Amaya, is a flamenco show that explores the essence of this art from the tension and harmony that are born of improvisation. Inspired by the musical concept of the counterpoint, this work puts into stage a dynamic conversation between the different elements of flamenco: guitar, singing and dancing.
Each of them becomes a voice that, far from competing, complements itself, forming a unique network of rhythms, silences and emotions. Through improvisation, “Contrapunto” reveals the complexity of flamenco in its purest state, where each function is unrepeatable and every moment is built in the here and now. The guitar marks a bar that challenges and sustains the singing, while the dance intervenes, responds or advances, creating a narrative that flows between structure and freedom.
In this dialogue, each artist finds his own space and time, making the individual interpretation found in a harmonious and exciting set.
“Contrapunto” celebrates the essence of flamenco as a living and changing expression, uniting tradition and spontaneous creation. It is a meeting where the public becomes a witness to the energy that emerges from the contrast, symmetry and balance of this constantly evolving art.
