EL 69º POTAJE GITANO DE UTRERA RENDIRÁ SU HOMENAJE AL CANTANTE ONUBENSE PITINGO
The Brotherhood of the Gypsies of Utrera has presented the poster of the LXIX Gypsy Potaje. This festival, organized by the brotherhood and in which the City of Utrera collaborates, will bring together on the stage prominent flamenco figures to pay tribute, in this edition, to the Almonteño artist Antonio Manuel Álvarez Vélez, artistically known as Pitingo.
During the night of June 28, as is already tradition, the courtyard of the Salesian College of Utrera, will feature the performances of a flamenco cast composed of the singing of El Pele and Aurora Vargas, the dance of Juana Amaya and the piano of the utrerano Andrés Barrios.
The presentation of the festival will be given by Juan Garrido, a figure recognized for his work in the dissemination and promotion of flamenco. Likewise, the role of maintainer will fall to José Luis López El Turronero, whose close friendship with the honoree brings symbolic value to this edition.
The presentation of the poster was also attended by representatives of the Brotherhood of the Gypsies of Utrera and some artists, the mayor of Utrera, Francisco Jiménez, members of the local government team, the delegate of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía in Seville, Ricardo Sánchez, and the Territorial delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía in Seville, Carmen Ort Laynez, among other authorities.
The mayor of Utrera, has referred to the importance that flamenco has in the town, a large part of the name that our city has, is due to the Gypsies. In addition, he has congratulated the brotherhood on being able to keep this tradition alive and also conquer new places.
Although the honoree could not be present, through a video he showed his gratitude for the honors and his willingness to leave me the soul in Utrera, where he already sang in 2009, 2010 and 2013.
José Tomás Pérez Indiano, author of the cartel
The visual identity of this edition of the Gypsy Potaje has been reflected in a poster work of the artist José Tomás Pérez Indiano, who has incorporated in his design numerous figures and symbols representative of the flamenco culture of Utrera, capturing the essence of both the festival and the city. “Prime the color that, for me, the most represents flamenco, along with elements that reflect the identity of this festival,” said the author.
