Diego del Morao
Diego Moreno Jiménez was born in Jerez de la Frontera in 1978 and it was his father who taught him to love the guitar – Moraíto Chico. Although he is a great follower of the Morao family school, Diego belongs to a saga that stands out because of their technique and sound. He has played with many artists despite being so young, and recently he has been playing regularly with Tomasa La Macanita.
His made his professional debut accompanying La Macanita live. And, little by little, he has become one of the most sought after guitarists for accompanying Flamenco singers. La Macanita, José Mercé, Diego El Cigala, Niña Pastori and Diego Carrasco are just some of the artists who have frequently requested his “services” when touring.
The crucial year in his career was 2004, when he participated in the recording and live performances for records like “Confí de fuá” by José Mercé, “No hay quinto malo” by Niña Pastori and “La Rosa Blanca” by Montse Cortés. He did recordings with José Mercé, La Tana and Potito as well.
Even Paco de Lucía used him when producing a record for the young Flamenco singer, LaTana, which was published in 2005. Since then he has released a number of solo albums.
On his debut album ‘Orate’ Diego combines the freshness of today’s flamenco with strong ties to the roots of his home, that of the family from Jerez.
