About Peña La Platería:

Peña de Arte Flamenco La Platería is a non-profit cultural association which aims to teach, disseminate and safeguard the values that historically and traditionally have given rise to the increasingly important part of Andalusian culture known as flamenco art, in its different forms – singing, dancing and guitar-playing.

La Platería was founded in Granada in 1949, thus being the doyenne of flamenco clubs in the city, Andalusia and Spain. For this reason, it would set the standards for all the flamenco clubs that were founded later on.

The club was named “La Platería” (The Silversmith’s) because the group of flamenco fans who founded it met in the workshop of silversmith Manuel Salamanca Jiménez.
