This center was founded in 1892 as a Salón-Teatro in the Parque Genovés for the development of theatrical and musical performances, its beautiful iron structure is the work of the construction company “Eiffel et Cie” and is owned by Gustave Eiffel, internationally known for the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.

It was decided to move this structure to its current location, the Plaza de La Merced, becoming from 1931 the Mercado de Abastos, a meeting point for the whole neighborhood and a place to buy fresh produce, popularly known as “El Piojito” a name given to it because it is close to the Municipal Prevention, a police station usually occupied by beggars and criminals with hygiene problems.

In this market full of art, there are such unique and memorable Cádiz “characters” as “El Malagueño”, known for his fruit and vegetable stand in the Merced market in Cádiz.

The center has 4 fully soundproofed and equipped rooms for teaching, rehearsing and flamenco productions, and a large stage that hosts all kinds of shows, as well as master classes.

All classrooms have natural light, mirrors, technical flooring (linoleum), good sound, insulation and auxiliary equipment.
