Provincial Council of Seville awards honors to Lole Montoya and Manuel Molina
Lole Montoya (1954) and Manuel Molina (posthumously), who joined forces in 1972 to become the pioneering duo of nuevo flamenco. Their artistic output was crucial in the renewal of this genre, which they fused with rock influences and orchestral arrangements, without sacrificing either poetry or identity. Their contribution was fundamental to the evolution of flamenco, to its openness to cultural fusion from a symbolic dimension that evokes freedom and cultural experimentation.
The Provincial Council of Seville has approved today in an extraordinary meeting of its Plenary, chaired by Javier Fernández and by unanimous vote of all the political groups represented, the awarding of honors and distinctions for the Day of the Province 2026, which will be celebrated on May 28th from 8:00 pm, in the Cartuja Center CITE auditorium in the Sevillian capital, under the motto ‘The talent that is felt’.
