The ‘Cuidad del Sol’ Flamenco Festival at the Teatro Guerra in Lorca, Spain is a competition for upcoming talent that begins on November 12 with the official opening and continues on November 13 and 14.
The Gran Gala final performance at the Auditorio Margarita Lozano on November 15 features the extraordinary and impressive cantaores of flamenco El Capullo de Jerez and El Pele.
Miguel Flores Quirós, “El Capullo de Jerez” is an artist from the old school, trained since childhood in the school of life and singing twenty-four hours a day. An impressive performer with an absolutely personal style, he can be identified, without any doubt, even before he starts warming up. Capullo possesses the genuine sound of his land, but approaches the songs in a way that clearly differentiates him from all of his contemporaries.
Manuel Moreno Maya, better known as “El Pele” was born in Córdoba on January 17, 1954. He is a flamenco singer with a sharp intuition of the sublime. His spontaneous singing catches you from the beginning of each performance. He is an honest and pure singer that unites life and death.
