Entradas

Argentina Maria López Tristancho, artistically known by the name of Argentina, was born in Huelva in 1984. Today, Argentina is definitely a reality of flamenco singing in this country.

She published her first album in 2006 and few debut records are remembered with such impact in the a Flamenco artist, but it seems that this time, talent and luck have held this young woman hands because the next few months did nothing but endorse a good start: her work deserved the Critics Award for Best Song and Revelation album while she fulfilled the top spot in the charts of the main Andalusian music radio-formulas: number one Radiolé and Canal Festival on several occasions and reissue of the album with remixed tracks to celebrate the good reception, which also has been endorsed with television appearances on The Night of Quintero or Blessed Maria Jimenez, in addition to her live recording for Radio 3’s concerts.

Argentina shows in every performance that is not only “cantaora” of discs but she also reaping enormous success also in her performances and at venues such as the Cajon Festival and the Festival of La Merce in Barcelona, Malaga Biennial Flamenco Festival Flamenco Pa’Tos in Madrid or in Huelva, Seville and Zaragoza. Equally remarkable are her performances at the Summer Festival of Villa in the beautiful setting of Jardines de Sabatini, at the Gran Teatro Falla in Cadiz and Bilbao Big Week.

Away, even close in time, are her numerous performances by the audiences of Andalusia and her formative stages at the Cristina Heeren Foundation in Seville; performances where Argentina has been making herself a touring artist.

Today and some way to go, she is always studying the great evolution of this genre. The important recognition of her short career motivates every day to further research into what she likes, which is flamenco.
