José Tanaka is a Kyoto-born guitarist and composer raised in a family rooted in flamenco tradition. Surrounded by music from an early age, he developed a distinctive style blending flamenco with classical, rock, and jazz influences.
After studying at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Tanaka built an international career performing across the U.S., Europe, and Japan, with appearances at iconic venues like the Hollywood Bowl and collaborations with world-renowned artists.
His music bridges tradition and innovation, shaped by influences ranging from Paco de Lucía to Stevie Wonder. Tanaka has released multiple albums, including Gypsy’s Dream and Lluvia, showcasing his dynamic and globally inspired sound.
