HOMENAJE A MIGUEL PÉREZ EN SEVILLA

26 de Enero de 2025 – 20.00h – Teatro Alameda, Sevilla

One of the great losses of 2024 was the passing of Flamenco guitarist Miguel Pérez at age 63 on January 22.

He started playing at the age of eight under the guidance of his father, influenced by the rich flamenco tradition that permeates the streets of Sevilla. He worked with big companies, such as José Greco for many years, and with artists Matilde Coral, Andrés Peña, Encarna Anillo, David Lagos, Juan Ogalla, Manuel Betanzos, Pastora Galván, Manolo Soler, Patricia Guerrero, Luisa Palacio, David Perez, Eduardo Guerrero, Fernando Jiménez, La Toná, Rafaela Carrasco, Antonio Canales, and with California dancer Yaelisa.

Miguel was a winner and finalist of contests such as the Festival de La Unión, La Perla de Cadiz and the National Flamenco Contest of Córdoba.

Teaching was not something new for him, he was the official guitarist of the Manuel Betanzos Academy and taught courses in Sevilla, and in Performing Arts Rebollar. Internationally, he taught at the Marktoberdorf International Music Festival, the Kazan Flamenco Festival in Russia and the Albuquerque Flamenco International Festival.

The flamenco community will pay tribute to this great flamenco guitarist, recalling not only his technical skill but also his human warmth and generosity on stage.
