The Jerez style of bulería is playful, energetic and often humorous. It’s traditionally performed at the end of flamenco shows in the “fin de fiesta”, and of course at a “juerga” (flamenco party). He will teach you not only the steps of the bulerias, but also how to dance it well.

Learn:

* an intro to bulería marcaje in 6s, 3s & 2s

* a basic desplante, and components of a bulerías dance

* and, most importantly, how they fit together.

Miguel will also sing variations during the class. Class includes interpretation in English as needed for non Spanish speaking dancers.

ABOUT OUR ARTIST

Miguel Angel Heredia is an extraordinary talent from the cradle of flamenco, the San Miguel District of Jerez de La Frontera. Having been influenced at an early age by his Gypsy family and subsequently trained at the great flamenco academies, today he is best known for championing and preserving the Jerez school of flamenco baile.

Masterful in his presence, both refined yet earthy, Miguel Angel personifies the puro Jerez style from which he hails. His training is clearly apparent as is his Jerezano upbringing, as he himself describes his life experiences, he is “grateful for my training but also for great parties with old Gypsy ladies from whom I’ve learned and whom have contributed so much to baile, but sadly been forgotten. Their great worth should be acknowledged”.

Heredia regularly performs, teaches and tours internationally in Europe and to Japan in particular for the last 12 years, and has been praised by flamenco critics for the great success his own show ‘Sentío cabal. Bailando pa cantá‘. Apart from his own successful career Miguel Angel has also performed in the “Bodas de Sangre” adaptation of the Teatro Dionisio de Jerez. as well as with flamenco pianist Reina Gitana ensemble, with which he toured in the whole of Spain. He also had the honor to perform for the Spanish princesses Doña Pilar & Elena de Bourbón.

Heredia is also currently on tour as a featured dancer and singer with Manuel Linan’s highly acclaimed show VIVA! We are very fortunate to have him perform and teach as part of our XII Festival ‘Cumbre Flamenca’ 2023.
