Ana Belén López Ruiz “Belén López” was born in Tarragona, near Barcelona, in December of 1986. Her mother is from Cordoba and her father from Seville. The dancer started her career quite early although she is not from traditional flamenco family.

During the Saint Jordi’s Day, when Belén only was five years old, she danced in the inauguration of a street in Barcelona dedicated to Carmen Amaya. The dancer performed in presence of Mr Pasqual Maragall, who was in that time the mayor of Barcelona. Balén López danced along with the famous flamenco Barcelona dancer Antonio Ruiz Soler “el bailarín” and Pilar López. Belén remembers it as a “very important experience”, it was the first time when she danced with live music.

When she was seven years old, Belén won the TV concourse “Bravo Bravísimo”. Further she danced in the Madrid Theatre with famous dancer Ángel Corella. In December 1994 Belén López was invited to dance with Corella in a benefit organized by UNICEF, presented by Concha Galán in the Madrid Theatre.

At the age of nine Belén represented Spain for the first time in the International Tourism Fair “Inturfest” in San Petersburg (Russia). In August 1996 Belén López performed in a gala dinner in Tenerife as a guest artist. The gala was organized by Andrés Caparrós. Later that year the dancer performed before representatives of the division of Russian tourism in the Tarragona Town Hall.
In February 1997 dancer represented Spain again in “Inturfest”. She also danced in several Embassies and Palaces of San Petersburg. In 1999 Belén moved to Madrid and started to perform regularly in various tablaos flamenco Barcelona. When she was eleven years old dancer started her studies in the Dance Conservatory of Madrid, which she finished 4 years later.

From 2001 until 2005 during four seasons Belén López was the first flamenco Barcelona dancer of the Arena di Verona, the biggest outdoor opera theatre in the world. There she danced in the plays “Carmen” and “Il Trovatore”, directed by Franco Zefirelli. Also Belén was the first dancer in the company “La Corrala”, she went on tour in Italy with it. The company was directed by Il Camborio. In April 2003 Belén danced in the Russian Embassy of Madrid. During several months Belén López was first dancer dancer in the Corral de la Morería in Madrid. There young dancer presented the show along with Juan Andrés Maya.

In May of 2004, when Belén was 17 years old, she received the National flamenco Barcelona Award “Mario Maya”. In March of 2005 dancer was awarded with the Best New Artist Award by the Corral de la Pacheca. In October 3rd in 2003 Belén López performed as the only dancer in a benefit dinner gala in the Zarzuela Theatre in Madrid before Her Majesty Queen Sofía.

The dancer debuted with her own company in the Metropol Theatre of Tarragona in January 2005. She presented “Atrapados por el arte” (Caught by art), it was a great success. Belén performed the show again one year later in Madrid Theatre. In February of 2006 dancer participated in the Jerez Festival in the cycle “Los novísimos”. In April of the same year Belén performed year in “La Biennale danza e Italia” of Pessaro (Italy).

In 2008 in the Nuevo Apolo Theatre in Madrid Belén López directed, wrote and choreographed the play “Cuando Amanece”. The following year she presented the show “A mi manera” in La Latina Theatre. The show was acclaimed by the critic and public.

Belén López travelled to Czech Republic, debuting in Prague and Brno in 2012. In March 2013 the dancer performed in the tenth edition of the flamenco Barcelona Festival of London with such flamenco Barcelona starts as Antonio Canales, Jesús Carmona, Carlos Rodríguez and Sol Picó.

During her career, Belén López performed in different theatres and tablao such as the Albéniz Theatre, the Español in Madrid, the Fine Arts Circle in Madrid, the flamenco Barcelona Festival Pa Tós, the Grand Theatre of Cordoba, the Suma Flamenca Festival in the Gasteig Theatre of Munich, in Tablao Cordobes Flamenco Barcelona, in the Bienal of Malaga, in the Caja Madrid Festival… etc.
