Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company

In 1999, Yjastros: The American Flamenco Repertory Company set forth on an artistic journey that would become America’s most distinctive flamenco project. This revolutionary performance entity combined the mosaic quality of the American repertory company with the authentic idiom of flamenco, creating a living archive of choreographic masterworks.

The National Institute of Flamenco is a 2020 NATIONAL DANCE PROJECT AWARD Finalist Grant Award recipient. Support was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts with funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to address sustainability needs during COVID-19 and in support of THE FUTURE PRODUCTION OF YJASTROS: THE AMERICAN FLAMENCO REPERTORY COMPANY IN MESTIZX.
